This historic German-influenced design originates from the Seiffen region in Saxony, where it has long been favored by local toymakers. The Colwin Way Skew is easier to handle thanks to its flared tip, which counterbalances the intentionally shorter-than-normal handle. This design places your hand closer to the cutting area, providing greater control and a more sensitive feel when making planing cuts. The blade’s side has a rolled, rounded edge along nearly its entire length, allowing it to glide smoothly along the tool rest and roll evenly when forming beads. The skew features an 8-inch-long blade joined to a 10-inch-long polished ash handle with a brass ferrule, resulting in an overall length of approximately 18 inches.
